Wind power is something wonderful because it is generated by the simple action of the wind turning a turbine. As a child, I used to watch the movement and listen to the rhythmic clanging sounds of the metal blades of a wind mill turning in the stiff breeze. In this situation the windmill’s power was harnessed to drive a water pump which was attached to a borehole deep in the ground. Its job was to bring water to the surface and pump it into a water-tank. It would be used as drinking water for the farm animals. In times of drought the windmill was a life-saver. Today, domestic wind turbines are also used to generate electricity to power up the home, providing all or part of its needs. This clean, green energy source is not difficult to harness and is freely available in most areas of the world.
