Nurse midwife fails to inform obstetrician of signs of fetal compromise

This reported birth injury case involves a stillbirth in a state which does not recognize stillbirth claims.  The law firm handling the case brought a claim on behalf of the mother for the emotional harm she suffered from the loss of her baby.  The firm reported that they obtained a $425,000 settlement on behalf of the mother.  The case involves a 23 year old woman pregnant with her first child who was admitted to the hospital for labor and delivery.  The nurse midwife induced labor and then, after the fetal heart rate monitor indicated fetal compromise of the baby, waited for over two hours before notifying an obstetrician.  By the time the doctor was able to perform an emergency C-section the baby was born still.
