Candid photography for your wedding

Wedding studios shoot traditional style while a wedding photojournalist will take candid shots and have you pose for more creative, environmental portraits. A good environmental portrait encompasses location, lighting and background. When you view a photographers portfolio, pay extra attention to the location portraits. Did the photographer select an interesting location and composition? What’s happening in the background? Is the bride and groom the main focus or do they fade into the background? Good light can make a portrait extra special too so take note of natural light, shadows and the photographers ability to mix various light sources. Also, look for candid moments and emotions. Do the images look staged or real?
